أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلْمَلَإِ مِنۢ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٲٓءِيلَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مُوسَىٰٓ إِذْ قَالُواْ لِنَبِىٍّ لَّهُمُ ٱبْعَثْ لَنَا مَلِكًا نُّقَـٰتِلْ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِۖ قَالَ هَلْ عَسَيْتُمْ إِن كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمُ ٱلْقِتَالُ أَلَّا تُقَـٰتِلُواْۖ قَالُواْ وَمَا لَنَآ أَلَّا نُقَـٰتِلَ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ وَقَدْ أُخْرِجْنَا مِن دِيَـٰرِنَا وَأَبْنَآئِنَاۖ فَلَمَّا كُتِبَ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْقِتَالُ تَوَلَّوْاْ إِلَّا قَلِيلاً مِّنْهُمْۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمُۢ بِٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ 246
وَقَالَ لَهُمْ نَبِيُّهُمْ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ قَدْ بَعَثَ لَكُمْ طَالُوتَ مَلِكًاۚ قَالُوٓاْ أَنَّىٰ يَكُونُ لَهُ ٱلْمُلْكُ عَلَيْنَا وَنَحْنُ أَحَقُّ بِٱلْمُلْكِ مِنْهُ وَلَمْ يُؤْتَ سَعَةً مِّنَ ٱلْمَالِۚ قَالَ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ ٱصْطَفَـٰهُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَزَادَهُۥ بَسْطَةً فِى ٱلْعِلْمِ وَٱلْجِسْمِۖ وَٱللَّهُ يُؤْتِى مُلْكَهُۥ مَن يَشَآءُۚ وَٱللَّهُ وَٲسِعٌ عَلِيمٌ 247
وَقَالَ لَهُمْ نَبِيُّهُمْ إِنَّ ءَايَةَ مُلْكِهِۦٓ أَن يَأْتِيَكُمُ ٱلتَّابُوتُ فِيهِ سَكِينَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ وَبَقِيَّةٌ مِّمَّا تَرَكَ ءَالُ مُوسَىٰ وَءَالُ هَـٰرُونَ تَحْمِلُهُ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُۚ إِنَّ فِى ذَٲلِكَ لَأَيَةً لَّكُمْ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ 248
أَلَمْalamDid notتَرَtarayou seeإِلَىilā[towards]ٱلْمَلَإِl-mala-ithe chiefsمِنۢminofبَنِىٓbanī(the) Childrenإِسْرَٰٓءِيلَis'rāīla(of) IsraelمِنۢminfromبَعْدِbaʿdiafterمُوسَىٰٓmūsāMusaإِذْidhwhenقَالُوا۟qālūthey saidلِنَبِىٍّۢlinabiyyinto a Prophetلَّهُمُlahumuof theirsٱبْعَثْib'ʿathAppointلَنَاlanāfor usمَلِكًۭاmalikana kingنُّقَـٰتِلْnuqātilwe may fightفِىfīinسَبِيلِsabīli(the) wayٱللَّهِ ۖl-lahi(of) AllahقَالَqālaHe saidهَلْhalWouldعَسَيْتُمْʿasaytumyou perhaps إِنinifكُتِبَkutibaprescribedعَلَيْكُمُʿalaykumuupon youٱلْقِتَالُl-qitālu[the] fightingأَلَّاallāthat notتُقَـٰتِلُوا۟ ۖtuqātilūyou fightقَالُوا۟qālūThey saidوَمَاwamāAnd whatلَنَآlanāfor usأَلَّاallāthat notنُقَـٰتِلَnuqātilawe fightفِىfīinسَبِيلِsabīli(the) wayٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahوَقَدْwaqadwhile surelyأُخْرِجْنَاukh'rij'nāwe have been drivenمِنminfromدِيَـٰرِنَاdiyārināour homesوَأَبْنَآئِنَا ۖwa-abnāināand our childrenفَلَمَّاfalammāYet, whenكُتِبَkutibawas prescribedعَلَيْهِمُʿalayhimuupon themٱلْقِتَالُl-qitāluthe fightingتَوَلَّوْا۟tawallawthey turned awayإِلَّاillāexceptقَلِيلًۭاqalīlana fewمِّنْهُمْ ۗmin'humamong themوَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahعَلِيمٌۢʿalīmun(is) All-Knowingبِٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَbil-ẓālimīnaof the wrongdoers
2:246
وَقَالَwaqālaAnd saidلَهُمْlahumto themنَبِيُّهُمْnabiyyuhumtheir ProphetإِنَّinnaIndeedٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahقَدْqad(has) surelyبَعَثَbaʿatharaisedلَكُمْlakumfor youطَالُوتَṭālūtaTalutمَلِكًۭا ۚmalikan(as) a kingقَالُوٓا۟qālūThey saidأَنَّىٰannāHowيَكُونُyakūnucan beلَهُlahufor himٱلْمُلْكُl-mul'kuthe kingshipعَلَيْنَاʿalaynāover usوَنَحْنُwanaḥnuwhile weأَحَقُّaḥaqqu(are) more entitledبِٱلْمُلْكِbil-mul'kito kingshipمِنْهُmin'huthan himوَلَمْwalamand notيُؤْتَyu'tahe has been givenسَعَةًۭsaʿatanabundanceمِّنَminaofٱلْمَالِ ۚl-māli[the] wealthقَالَqālaHe saidإِنَّinnaIndeedٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahٱصْطَفَىٰهُiṣ'ṭafāhuhas chosen himعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumover youوَزَادَهُۥwazādahuand increased himبَسْطَةًۭbasṭatanabundantlyفِىfīinٱلْعِلْمِl-ʿil'mi[the] knowledgeوَٱلْجِسْمِ ۖwal-jis'miand [the] physiqueوَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahيُؤْتِىyu'tīgivesمُلْكَهُۥmul'kahuHis kingdomمَنman(to) whomيَشَآءُ ۚyashāuHe willsوَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahوَٰسِعٌwāsiʿun(is) All-EncompassingعَلِيمٌۭʿalīmunAll-Knowing
2:247
وَقَالَwaqālaAnd saidلَهُمْlahumto themنَبِيُّهُمْnabiyyuhumtheir ProphetإِنَّinnaIndeedءَايَةَāyataa signمُلْكِهِۦٓmul'kihi(of) his kingshipأَنan(is) thatيَأْتِيَكُمُyatiyakumuwill come to youٱلتَّابُوتُl-tābūtuthe arkفِيهِfīhiin itسَكِينَةٌۭsakīnatun(is) tranquilityمِّنminfromرَّبِّكُمْrabbikumyour Lordوَبَقِيَّةٌۭwabaqiyyatunand a remnantمِّمَّاmimmāof whatتَرَكَtaraka(was) leftءَالُālu(by the) familyمُوسَىٰmūsā(of) Musaوَءَالُwaāluand familyهَـٰرُونَhārūna(of) Harunتَحْمِلُهُtaḥmiluhuwill carry itٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ ۚl-malāikatuthe AngelsإِنَّinnaIndeedفِىfīinذَٰلِكَdhālikathatلَـَٔايَةًۭlaāyatan(is) surely a signلَّكُمْlakumfor youإِنinifكُنتُمkuntumyou areمُّؤْمِنِينَmu'minīnabelievers
