وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ ٱتَّبِعُواْ مَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ قَالُواْ بَلْ نَتَّبِعُ مَآ أَلْفَيْنَا عَلَيْهِ ءَابَآءَنَآۗ أَوَلَوْ كَانَ ءَابَآؤُهُمْ لَا يَعْقِلُونَ شَيْــًٔا وَلَا يَهْتَدُونَ 170
وَمَثَلُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ كَمَثَلِ ٱلَّذِى يَنْعِقُ بِمَا لَا يَسْمَعُ إِلَّا دُعَآءً وَنِدَآءًۚ صُمُّۢ بُكْمٌ عُمْىٌ فَهُمْ لَا يَعْقِلُونَ 171
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ كُلُواْ مِن طَيِّبَـٰتِ مَا رَزَقْنَـٰكُمْ وَٱشْكُرُواْ لِلَّهِ إِن كُنتُمْ إِيَّاهُ تَعْبُدُونَ 172
إِنَّمَا حَرَّمَ عَلَيْكُمُ ٱلْمَيْتَةَ وَٱلدَّمَ وَلَحْمَ ٱلْخِنزِيرِ وَمَآ أُهِلَّ بِهِۦ لِغَيْرِ ٱللَّهِۖ فَمَنِ ٱضْطُرَّ غَيْرَ بَاغٍ وَلَا عَادٍ فَلَآ إِثْمَ عَلَيْهِۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ 173
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَكْتُمُونَ مَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ مِنَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ وَيَشْتَرُونَ بِهِۦ ثَمَنًا قَلِيلاًۙ أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ مَا يَأْكُلُونَ فِى بُطُونِهِمْ إِلَّا ٱلنَّارَ وَلَا يُكَلِّمُهُمُ ٱللَّهُ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ وَلَا يُزَكِّيهِمْ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ 174
أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱشْتَرَوُاْ ٱلضَّلَـٰلَةَ بِٱلْهُدَىٰ وَٱلْعَذَابَ بِٱلْمَغْفِرَةِۚ فَمَآ أَصْبَرَهُمْ عَلَى ٱلنَّارِ 175
ذَٲلِكَ بِأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ نَزَّلَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ بِٱلْحَقِّۗ وَإِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱخْتَلَفُواْ فِى ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ لَفِى شِقَاقِۭ بَعِيدٍ 176
وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenقِيلَqīlait is saidلَهُمُlahumuto themٱتَّبِعُوا۟ittabiʿūFollowمَآmāwhatأَنزَلَanzalahas revealedٱللَّهُl-lahuAllahقَالُوا۟qālūthey saidبَلْbalNayنَتَّبِعُnattabiʿuwe followمَآmāwhatأَلْفَيْنَاalfaynāwe foundعَلَيْهِʿalayhi[on it]ءَابَآءَنَآ ۗābāanāour forefathers (following)أَوَلَوْawalawEven thoughكَانَkāna[were]ءَابَآؤُهُمْābāuhumtheir forefathersلَاlā(did) notيَعْقِلُونَyaʿqilūnaunderstandشَيْـًۭٔاshayananythingوَلَاwalāand notيَهْتَدُونَyahtadūnawere they guided
2:170
وَمَثَلُwamathaluAnd (the) exampleٱلَّذِينَalladhīna(of) those whoكَفَرُوا۟kafarūdisbelieve[d]كَمَثَلِkamathali(is) like (the) exampleٱلَّذِىalladhī(of) the one whoيَنْعِقُyanʿiqushoutsبِمَاbimāat whatلَاlānotيَسْمَعُyasmaʿu(does) hearإِلَّاillāexceptدُعَآءًۭduʿāancallsوَنِدَآءًۭ ۚwanidāanand cries صُمٌّۢṣummundeafبُكْمٌbuk'mundumbعُمْىٌۭʿum'yun(and) blindفَهُمْfahum[so] theyلَاlā(do) notيَعْقِلُونَyaʿqilūnaunderstand
2:171
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO youٱلَّذِينَalladhīnawhoءَامَنُوا۟āmanūbelieve[d]كُلُوا۟kulūEatمِنminfromطَيِّبَـٰتِṭayyibāti(the) goodمَاmā(of) whatرَزَقْنَـٰكُمْrazaqnākumWe have provided youوَٱشْكُرُوا۟wa-ush'kurūand be gratefulلِلَّهِlillahito Allahإِنinifكُنتُمْkuntumyouإِيَّاهُiyyāhualoneتَعْبُدُونَtaʿbudūnaworship Him
2:172
إِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyحَرَّمَḥarramaHe has forbiddenعَلَيْكُمُʿalaykumuto youٱلْمَيْتَةَl-maytatathe dead animalsوَٱلدَّمَwal-damaand [the] bloodوَلَحْمَwalaḥmaand fleshٱلْخِنزِيرِl-khinzīri(of) swineوَمَآwamāand whatأُهِلَّuhillahas been dedicatedبِهِۦbihi[with it]لِغَيْرِlighayrito other thanٱللَّهِ ۖl-lahiAllahفَمَنِfamaniSo whoeverٱضْطُرَّuḍ'ṭurra(is) forced by necessityغَيْرَghayrawithoutبَاغٍۢbāghin(being) disobedientوَلَاwalāand notعَادٍۢʿādintransgressorفَلَآfalāthen noإِثْمَith'masinعَلَيْهِ ۚʿalayhion himإِنَّinnaIndeedٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahغَفُورٌۭghafūrun(is) Oft-ForgivingرَّحِيمٌraḥīmunMost Merciful
2:173
إِنَّinnaIndeedٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoيَكْتُمُونَyaktumūnaconcealمَآmāwhatأَنزَلَanzala(has) revealedٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah (has)مِنَminaofٱلْكِتَـٰبِl-kitābithe Bookوَيَشْتَرُونَwayashtarūnaand they purchaseبِهِۦbihithere withثَمَنًۭاthamanana gainقَلِيلًا ۙqalīlanlittleأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَulāikaThoseمَاmānotيَأْكُلُونَyakulūnathey eatفِىfīinبُطُونِهِمْbuṭūnihimtheir belliesإِلَّاillāexceptٱلنَّارَl-nārathe FireوَلَاwalāAnd notيُكَلِّمُهُمُyukallimuhumuwill speak to themٱللَّهُl-lahuAllahيَوْمَyawma(on the) Dayٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِl-qiyāmati(of) [the] Judgmentوَلَاwalāand notيُزَكِّيهِمْyuzakkīhimwill He purify themوَلَهُمْwalahumand for themعَذَابٌʿadhābun(is) a punishmentأَلِيمٌalīmunpainful
2:174
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَulāikaThoseٱلَّذِينَalladhīna(are) they whoٱشْتَرَوُا۟ish'tarawūpurchase[d]ٱلضَّلَـٰلَةَl-ḍalālata[the] astrayingبِٱلْهُدَىٰbil-hudāfor [the] Guidanceوَٱلْعَذَابَwal-ʿadhābaand [the] punishmentبِٱلْمَغْفِرَةِ ۚbil-maghfiratifor [the] forgivenessفَمَآfamāSo what (is)أَصْبَرَهُمْaṣbarahumtheir enduranceعَلَىʿalāonٱلنَّارِl-nārithe Fire
2:175
ذَٰلِكَdhālikaThatبِأَنَّbi-anna(is) becauseٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahنَزَّلَnazzalarevealedٱلْكِتَـٰبَl-kitābathe Bookبِٱلْحَقِّ ۗbil-ḥaqiwith [the] Truthوَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeedٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathoseٱخْتَلَفُوا۟ikh'talafūwho differedفِىfīinٱلْكِتَـٰبِl-kitābithe Bookلَفِىlafī(are) surely inشِقَاقٍۭshiqāqinschismبَعِيدٍۢbaʿīdinfar
2:176
