وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَشْرَكُواْ لَوْ شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ مَا عَبَدْنَا مِن دُونِهِۦ مِن شَىْءٍ نَّحْنُ وَلَآ ءَابَآؤُنَا وَلَا حَرَّمْنَا مِن دُونِهِۦ مِن شَىْءٍۚ كَذَٲلِكَ فَعَلَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْۚ فَهَلْ عَلَى ٱلرُّسُلِ إِلَّا ٱلْبَلَـٰغُ ٱلْمُبِينُ 35
وَلَقَدْ بَعَثْنَا فِى كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ رَّسُولاً أَنِ ٱعْبُدُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَٱجْتَنِبُواْ ٱلطَّـٰغُوتَۖ فَمِنْهُم مَّنْ هَدَى ٱللَّهُ وَمِنْهُم مَّنْ حَقَّتْ عَلَيْهِ ٱلضَّلَـٰلَةُۚ فَسِيرُواْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَٱنظُرُواْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ 36
إِن تَحْرِصْ عَلَىٰ هُدَٮٰهُمْ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَهْدِى مَن يُضِلُّۖ وَمَا لَهُم مِّن نَّـٰصِرِينَ 37
وَأَقْسَمُواْ بِٱللَّهِ جَهْدَ أَيْمَـٰنِهِمْۙ لَا يَبْعَثُ ٱللَّهُ مَن يَمُوتُۚ بَلَىٰ وَعْدًا عَلَيْهِ حَقًّا وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ 38
لِيُبَيِّنَ لَهُمُ ٱلَّذِى يَخْتَلِفُونَ فِيهِ وَلِيَعْلَمَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓاْ أَنَّهُمْ كَانُواْ كَـٰذِبِينَ 39
إِنَّمَا قَوْلُنَا لِشَىْءٍ إِذَآ أَرَدْنَـٰهُ أَن نَّقُولَ لَهُۥ كُن فَيَكُونُ 40
وَٱلَّذِينَ هَاجَرُواْ فِى ٱللَّهِ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا ظُلِمُواْ لَنُبَوِّئَنَّهُمْ فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةًۖ وَلَأَجْرُ ٱلْأَخِرَةِ أَكْبَرُۚ لَوْ كَانُواْ يَعْلَمُونَ 41
ٱلَّذِينَ صَبَرُواْ وَعَلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُونَ 42
وَقَالَwaqālaAnd saidٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoأَشْرَكُوا۟ashrakūassociate partners (with Allah)لَوْlawIfشَآءَshāaAllah (had) willedٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah (had) willedمَاmānotعَبَدْنَاʿabadnāwe (would) have worshippedمِنminother than Himدُونِهِۦdūnihiother than Himمِنminanyشَىْءٍۢshayinthingنَّحْنُnaḥnuweوَلَآwalāand notءَابَآؤُنَاābāunāour forefathersوَلَاwalāand notحَرَّمْنَاḥarramnāwe (would) have forbiddenمِنminother than Himدُونِهِۦdūnihiother than Himمِنminanythingشَىْءٍۢ ۚshayinanythingكَذَٰلِكَkadhālikaThusفَعَلَfaʿaladidٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoمِنmin(were) before themقَبْلِهِمْ ۚqablihim(were) before themفَهَلْfahalThen is (there)عَلَىʿalāonٱلرُّسُلِl-rusulithe messengersإِلَّاillāexceptٱلْبَلَـٰغُl-balāghuthe conveyanceٱلْمُبِينُl-mubīnuclear
16:35
وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainlyبَعَثْنَاbaʿathnāWe sentفِىfīintoكُلِّkullieveryأُمَّةٍۢummatinnationرَّسُولًاrasūlana Messengerأَنِanithatٱعْبُدُوا۟uʿ'budūWorshipٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahوَٱجْتَنِبُوا۟wa-ij'tanibūand avoidٱلطَّـٰغُوتَ ۖl-ṭāghūtathe false deitiesفَمِنْهُمfamin'humThen among themمَّنْman(were some) whomهَدَىhadāAllah guidedٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah guidedوَمِنْهُمwamin'humand among themمَّنْman(were) someحَقَّتْḥaqqatwas justifiedعَلَيْهِʿalayhion themٱلضَّلَـٰلَةُ ۚl-ḍalālatuthe strayingفَسِيرُوا۟fasīrūSo travelفِىfīinٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthفَٱنظُرُوا۟fa-unẓurūand seeكَيْفَkayfahowكَانَkānawasعَـٰقِبَةُʿāqibatuthe endٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَl-mukadhibīna(of) the deniers
16:36
إِنinIfتَحْرِصْtaḥriṣyou desireعَلَىٰʿalā[for]هُدَىٰهُمْhudāhumtheir guidanceفَإِنَّfa-innathen indeedٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahلَاlā(will) notيَهْدِىyahdīguideمَنmanwhomيُضِلُّ ۖyuḍilluHe lets go astrayوَمَاwamāand not (are)لَهُمlahumfor themمِّنminanyنَّـٰصِرِينَnāṣirīnahelpers
16:37
وَأَقْسَمُوا۟wa-aqsamūAnd they swearبِٱللَّهِbil-lahiby Allahجَهْدَjahdastrongestأَيْمَـٰنِهِمْ ۙaymānihim(of) their oathsلَاlāAllah will not resurrectيَبْعَثُyabʿathuAllah will not resurrectٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah will not resurrectمَنman(one) whoيَمُوتُ ۚyamūtudiesبَلَىٰbalāNayوَعْدًاwaʿdan(it is) a promiseعَلَيْهِʿalayhiupon Himحَقًّۭاḥaqqan(in) truthوَلَـٰكِنَّwalākinnabutأَكْثَرَaktharamostٱلنَّاسِl-nāsi(of) the mankindلَاlā(do) notيَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnaknow
16:38
لِيُبَيِّنَliyubayyinaThat He will make clearلَهُمُlahumuto themٱلَّذِىalladhīthatيَخْتَلِفُونَyakhtalifūnathey differفِيهِfīhiwhereinوَلِيَعْلَمَwaliyaʿlamaand that may knowٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُوٓا۟kafarūdisbelievedأَنَّهُمْannahumthat theyكَانُوا۟kānūwereكَـٰذِبِينَkādhibīnaliars
16:39
إِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyقَوْلُنَاqawlunāOur Wordلِشَىْءٍlishayinto a thingإِذَآidhāwhenأَرَدْنَـٰهُaradnāhuWe intend itأَنan(is) thatنَّقُولَnaqūlaWe sayلَهُۥlahuto itكُنkunBeفَيَكُونُfayakūnuand it is
16:40
وَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those whoهَاجَرُوا۟hājarūemigratedفِىfīin (the way)ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahمِنۢminafterبَعْدِbaʿdiafterمَاmā[what]ظُلِمُوا۟ẓulimūthey were wrongedلَنُبَوِّئَنَّهُمْlanubawwi-annahumsurely We will give them positionفِىfīinٱلدُّنْيَاl-dun'yāthe worldحَسَنَةًۭ ۖḥasanatangoodوَلَأَجْرُwala-ajrubut surely the rewardٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِl-ākhirati(of) the Hereafterأَكْبَرُ ۚakbaru(is) greaterلَوْlawifكَانُوا۟kānūtheyيَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnaknow
16:41
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnaThose whoصَبَرُوا۟ṣabarū(are) patientوَعَلَىٰwaʿalāand onرَبِّهِمْrabbihimtheir Lordيَتَوَكَّلُونَyatawakkalūnathey put their trust
16:42
