وَإِذِ ٱعْتَزَلْتُمُوهُمْ وَمَا يَعْبُدُونَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهَ فَأْوُۥٓاْ إِلَى ٱلْكَهْفِ يَنشُرْ لَكُمْ رَبُّكُم مِّن رَّحْمَتِهِۦ وَيُهَيِّئْ لَكُم مِّنْ أَمْرِكُم مِّرْفَقًا 16
۞ وَتَرَى ٱلشَّمْسَ إِذَا طَلَعَت تَّزَٲوَرُ عَن كَهْفِهِمْ ذَاتَ ٱلْيَمِينِ وَإِذَا غَرَبَت تَّقْرِضُهُمْ ذَاتَ ٱلشِّمَالِ وَهُمْ فِى فَجْوَةٍ مِّنْهُۚ ذَٲلِكَ مِنْ ءَايَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِۗ مَن يَهْدِ ٱللَّهُ فَهُوَ ٱلْمُهْتَدِۖ وَمَن يُضْلِلْ فَلَن تَجِدَ لَهُۥ وَلِيًّا مُّرْشِدًا 17
وَتَحْسَبُهُمْ أَيْقَاظًا وَهُمْ رُقُودٌۚ وَنُقَلِّبُهُمْ ذَاتَ ٱلْيَمِينِ وَذَاتَ ٱلشِّمَالِۖ وَكَلْبُهُم بَـٰسِطٌ ذِرَاعَيْهِ بِٱلْوَصِيدِۚ لَوِ ٱطَّلَعْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ لَوَلَّيْتَ مِنْهُمْ فِرَارًا وَلَمُلِئْتَ مِنْهُمْ رُعْبًا 18
وَكَذَٲلِكَ بَعَثْنَـٰهُمْ لِيَتَسَآءَلُواْ بَيْنَهُمْۚ قَالَ قَآئِلٌ مِّنْهُمْ كَمْ لَبِثْتُمْۖ قَالُواْ لَبِثْنَا يَوْمًا أَوْ بَعْضَ يَوْمٍۚ قَالُواْ رَبُّكُمْ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا لَبِثْتُمْ فَٱبْعَثُوٓاْ أَحَدَكُم بِوَرِقِكُمْ هَـٰذِهِۦٓ إِلَى ٱلْمَدِينَةِ فَلْيَنظُرْ أَيُّهَآ أَزْكَىٰ طَعَامًا فَلْيَأْتِكُم بِرِزْقٍ مِّنْهُ وَلْيَتَلَطَّفْ وَلَا يُشْعِرَنَّ بِكُمْ أَحَدًا 19
إِنَّهُمْ إِن يَظْهَرُواْ عَلَيْكُمْ يَرْجُمُوكُمْ أَوْ يُعِيدُوكُمْ فِى مِلَّتِهِمْ وَلَن تُفْلِحُوٓاْ إِذًا أَبَدًا 20
وَإِذِwa-idhiAnd whenٱعْتَزَلْتُمُوهُمْiʿ'tazaltumūhumyou withdraw from themوَمَاwamāand whatيَعْبُدُونَyaʿbudūnathey worshipإِلَّاillāexceptٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahفَأْوُۥٓا۟fawūthen retreatإِلَىilātoٱلْكَهْفِl-kahfithe caveيَنشُرْyanshurWill spreadلَكُمْlakumfor youرَبُّكُمrabbukumyour LordمِّنminofرَّحْمَتِهِۦraḥmatihiHis Mercyوَيُهَيِّئْwayuhayyiand will facilitateلَكُمlakumfor youمِّنْmin[from]أَمْرِكُمamrikumyour affairمِّرْفَقًۭاmir'faqan(in) ease
18:16
۞ وَتَرَىwatarāAnd you (might) have seenٱلشَّمْسَl-shamsathe sunإِذَاidhāwhenطَلَعَتṭalaʿatit roseتَّزَٰوَرُtazāwaruinclining awayعَنʿanfromكَهْفِهِمْkahfihimtheir caveذَاتَdhātatoٱلْيَمِينِl-yamīnithe rightوَإِذَاwa-idhāand whenغَرَبَتgharabatit setتَّقْرِضُهُمْtaqriḍuhumpassing away from themذَاتَdhātatoٱلشِّمَالِl-shimālithe leftوَهُمْwahumwhile theyفِىfī(lay) inفَجْوَةٍۢfajwatinthe open spaceمِّنْهُ ۚmin'huthereofذَٰلِكَdhālikaThatمِنْmin(was) fromءَايَـٰتِāyāti(the) Signsٱللَّهِ ۗl-lahi(of) AllahمَنmanWhoeverيَهْدِyahdiAllah guidesٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah guidesفَهُوَfahuwaand heٱلْمُهْتَدِ ۖl-muh'tadi(is) the guided oneوَمَنwamanand whoeverيُضْلِلْyuḍ'lilHe lets go astrayفَلَنfalanthen neverتَجِدَtajidayou will findلَهُۥlahufor himوَلِيًّۭاwaliyyana protectorمُّرْشِدًۭاmur'shidana guide
18:17
وَتَحْسَبُهُمْwataḥsabuhumAnd you (would) think themأَيْقَاظًۭاayqāẓanawakeوَهُمْwahumwhile theyرُقُودٌۭ ۚruqūdun(were) asleepوَنُقَلِّبُهُمْwanuqallibuhumAnd We turned themذَاتَdhātatoٱلْيَمِينِl-yamīnithe rightوَذَاتَwadhātaand toٱلشِّمَالِ ۖl-shimālithe leftوَكَلْبُهُمwakalbuhumwhile their dogبَـٰسِطٌۭbāsiṭunstretchedذِرَاعَيْهِdhirāʿayhihis two forelegsبِٱلْوَصِيدِ ۚbil-waṣīdiat the entranceلَوِlawiIfٱطَّلَعْتَiṭṭalaʿtayou had lookedعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimat themلَوَلَّيْتَlawallaytayou (would) have surely turned backمِنْهُمْmin'humfrom themفِرَارًۭاfirāran(in) flightوَلَمُلِئْتَwalamuli'taand surely you would have been filledمِنْهُمْmin'humby themرُعْبًۭاruʿ'ban(with) terror
18:18
وَكَذَٰلِكَwakadhālikaAnd similarlyبَعَثْنَـٰهُمْbaʿathnāhumWe raised themلِيَتَسَآءَلُوا۟liyatasāalūthat they might questionبَيْنَهُمْ ۚbaynahumamong themقَالَqālaSaidقَآئِلٌۭqāiluna speakerمِّنْهُمْmin'humamong themكَمْkamHow longلَبِثْتُمْ ۖlabith'tumhave you remainedقَالُوا۟qālūThey saidلَبِثْنَاlabith'nāWe have remainedيَوْمًاyawmana dayأَوْaworبَعْضَbaʿḍaa partيَوْمٍۢ ۚyawmin(of) a dayقَالُوا۟qālūThey saidرَبُّكُمْrabbukumYour Lordأَعْلَمُaʿlamuknows bestبِمَاbimāhow longلَبِثْتُمْlabith'tumyou have remainedفَٱبْعَثُوٓا۟fa-ib'ʿathūSo sendأَحَدَكُمaḥadakumone of youبِوَرِقِكُمْbiwariqikumwith this silver coin of yoursهَـٰذِهِۦٓhādhihiwith this silver coin of yoursإِلَىilātoٱلْمَدِينَةِl-madīnatithe cityفَلْيَنظُرْfalyanẓurand let him seeأَيُّهَآayyuhāwhich isأَزْكَىٰazkāthe purestطَعَامًۭاṭaʿāmanfoodفَلْيَأْتِكُمfalyatikumand let him bring to youبِرِزْقٍۢbiriz'qinprovisionمِّنْهُmin'hufrom itوَلْيَتَلَطَّفْwalyatalaṭṭafand let him be cautiousوَلَاwalāAnd let not be awareيُشْعِرَنَّyush'ʿirannaAnd let not be awareبِكُمْbikumabout youأَحَدًاaḥadananyone
18:19
إِنَّهُمْinnahumIndeed, [they]إِنinifيَظْهَرُوا۟yaẓharūthey come to knowعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumabout youيَرْجُمُوكُمْyarjumūkumthey will stone youأَوْaworيُعِيدُوكُمْyuʿīdūkumreturn youفِىfītoمِلَّتِهِمْmillatihimtheir religionوَلَنwalanAnd neverتُفْلِحُوٓا۟tuf'liḥūwill you succeedإِذًاidhanthen أَبَدًۭاabadanever
18:20
