يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ إِذَا تَدَايَنتُم بِدَيْنٍ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى فَٱكْتُبُوهُۚ وَلْيَكْتُب بَّيْنَكُمْ كَاتِبُۢ بِٱلْعَدْلِۚ وَلَا يَأْبَ كَاتِبٌ أَن يَكْتُبَ كَمَا عَلَّمَهُ ٱللَّهُۚ فَلْيَكْتُبْ وَلْيُمْلِلِ ٱلَّذِى عَلَيْهِ ٱلْحَقُّ وَلْيَتَّقِ ٱللَّهَ رَبَّهُۥ وَلَا يَبْخَسْ مِنْهُ شَيْــًٔاۚ فَإِن كَانَ ٱلَّذِى عَلَيْهِ ٱلْحَقُّ سَفِيهًا أَوْ ضَعِيفًا أَوْ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَن يُمِلَّ هُوَ فَلْيُمْلِلْ وَلِيُّهُۥ بِٱلْعَدْلِۚ وَٱسْتَشْهِدُواْ شَهِيدَيْنِ مِن رِّجَالِكُمْۖ فَإِن لَّمْ يَكُونَا رَجُلَيْنِ فَرَجُلٌ وَٱمْرَأَتَانِ مِمَّن تَرْضَوْنَ مِنَ ٱلشُّهَدَآءِ أَن تَضِلَّ إِحْدَٮٰهُمَا فَتُذَكِّرَ إِحْدَٮٰهُمَا ٱلْأُخْرَىٰۚ وَلَا يَأْبَ ٱلشُّهَدَآءُ إِذَا مَا دُعُواْۚ وَلَا تَسْــَٔمُوٓاْ أَن تَكْتُبُوهُ صَغِيرًا أَوْ كَبِيرًا إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلِهِۦۚ ذَٲلِكُمْ أَقْسَطُ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ وَأَقْوَمُ لِلشَّهَـٰدَةِ وَأَدْنَىٰٓ أَلَّا تَرْتَابُوٓاْۖ إِلَّآ أَن تَكُونَ تِجَـٰرَةً حَاضِرَةً تُدِيرُونَهَا بَيْنَكُمْ فَلَيْسَ عَلَيْكُمْ جُنَاحٌ أَلَّا تَكْتُبُوهَاۗ وَأَشْهِدُوٓاْ إِذَا تَبَايَعْتُمْۚ وَلَا يُضَآرَّ كَاتِبٌ وَلَا شَهِيدٌۚ وَإِن تَفْعَلُواْ فَإِنَّهُۥ فُسُوقُۢ بِكُمْۗ وَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَۖ وَيُعَلِّمُكُمُ ٱللَّهُۗ وَٱللَّهُ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلِيمٌ 282
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO youٱلَّذِينَalladhīnawhoءَامَنُوٓا۟āmanūbelieve[d]إِذَاidhāWhenتَدَايَنتُمtadāyantumyou contract with one anotherبِدَيْنٍbidayninany debtإِلَىٰٓilāforأَجَلٍۢajalina termمُّسَمًّۭىmusammanfixedفَٱكْتُبُوهُ ۚfa-uk'tubūhuthen write itوَلْيَكْتُبwalyaktubAnd let writeبَّيْنَكُمْbaynakumbetween youكَاتِبٌۢkātibuna scribeبِٱلْعَدْلِ ۚbil-ʿadliin justiceوَلَاwalāAnd notيَأْبَyaba(should) refuseكَاتِبٌkātibuna scribeأَنanthatيَكْتُبَyaktubahe writesكَمَاkamāasعَلَّمَهُʿallamahu(has) taught himٱللَّهُ ۚl-lahuAllahفَلْيَكْتُبْfalyaktubSo let him writeوَلْيُمْلِلِwalyum'liliand let dictateٱلَّذِىalladhīthe oneعَلَيْهِʿalayhion whomٱلْحَقُّl-ḥaqu(is) the rightوَلْيَتَّقِwalyattaqiand let him fearٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahرَبَّهُۥrabbahuhis Lordوَلَاwalāand (let him) notيَبْخَسْyabkhasdiminishمِنْهُmin'hufrom itشَيْـًۭٔا ۚshayananythingفَإِنfa-inThen ifكَانَkānaisٱلَّذِىalladhīthe oneعَلَيْهِʿalayhion himٱلْحَقُّl-ḥaqu(is) the rightسَفِيهًاsafīhan(of) limited understandingأَوْaworضَعِيفًاḍaʿīfanweakأَوْaworلَاlānotيَسْتَطِيعُyastaṭīʿucapableأَنanthatيُمِلَّyumilla(can) dictateهُوَhuwaheفَلْيُمْلِلْfalyum'lilthen let dictateوَلِيُّهُۥwaliyyuhuhis guardianبِٱلْعَدْلِ ۚbil-ʿadliwith justiceوَٱسْتَشْهِدُوا۟wa-is'tashhidūAnd call for evidenceشَهِيدَيْنِshahīdaynitwo witnessesمِنminamongرِّجَالِكُمْ ۖrijālikumyour menفَإِنfa-inAnd ifلَّمْlamnotيَكُونَاyakūnāthere areرَجُلَيْنِrajulaynitwo menفَرَجُلٌۭfarajulunthen one manوَٱمْرَأَتَانِwa-im'ra-atāniand two womenمِمَّنmimmanof whomتَرْضَوْنَtarḍawnayou agreeمِنَminaofٱلشُّهَدَآءِl-shuhadāi[the] witnessesأَنan(so) that (if)تَضِلَّtaḍilla[she] errsإِحْدَىٰهُمَاiḥ'dāhumāone of the twoفَتُذَكِّرَfatudhakkirathen will remindإِحْدَىٰهُمَاiḥ'dāhumāone of the twoٱلْأُخْرَىٰ ۚl-ukh'rāthe otherوَلَاwalāAnd notيَأْبَyaba(should) refuseٱلشُّهَدَآءُl-shuhadāuthe witnessesإِذَاidhāwhenمَاmāthatدُعُوا۟ ۚduʿūthey are calledوَلَاwalāAnd notتَسْـَٔمُوٓا۟tasamū(be) wearyأَنanthatتَكْتُبُوهُtaktubūhuyou write it صَغِيرًاṣaghīransmallأَوْaworكَبِيرًاkabīranlargeإِلَىٰٓilāforأَجَلِهِۦ ۚajalihiits termذَٰلِكُمْdhālikumThatأَقْسَطُaqsaṭu(is) more justعِندَʿindanearٱللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَأَقْوَمُwa-aqwamuand more uprightلِلشَّهَـٰدَةِlilshahādatifor evidenceوَأَدْنَىٰٓwa-adnāand nearerأَلَّاallāthat notتَرْتَابُوٓا۟ ۖtartābūyou (have) doubtإِلَّآillāexceptأَنanthatتَكُونَtakūnabeتِجَـٰرَةًtijāratana transactionحَاضِرَةًۭḥāḍiratanpresentتُدِيرُونَهَاtudīrūnahāyou carry outبَيْنَكُمْbaynakumamong youفَلَيْسَfalaysathen notعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumon youجُنَاحٌjunāḥunany sinأَلَّاallāthat notتَكْتُبُوهَا ۗtaktubūhāyou write itوَأَشْهِدُوٓا۟wa-ashhidūAnd take witnessإِذَاidhāwhenتَبَايَعْتُمْ ۚtabāyaʿtumyou make commercial transactionوَلَاwalāAnd notيُضَآرَّyuḍārra(should) be harmedكَاتِبٌۭkātibun(the) scribeوَلَاwalāand notشَهِيدٌۭ ۚshahīdun(the) witnessوَإِنwa-inand ifتَفْعَلُوا۟tafʿalūyou doفَإِنَّهُۥfa-innahuthen indeed itفُسُوقٌۢfusūqun(is) sinful conductبِكُمْ ۗbikumfor youوَٱتَّقُوا۟wa-ittaqūand fearٱللَّهَ ۖl-lahaAllahوَيُعَلِّمُكُمُwayuʿallimukumuAnd teachesٱللَّهُ ۗl-lahuAllahوَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahبِكُلِّbikulliof everyشَىْءٍshayinthingعَلِيمٌۭʿalīmun(is) All-Knower
