وَإِنَّ مِنْهُمْ لَفَرِيقًا يَلْوُۥنَ أَلْسِنَتَهُم بِٱلْكِتَـٰبِ لِتَحْسَبُوهُ مِنَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ وَمَا هُوَ مِنَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ وَيَقُولُونَ هُوَ مِنْ عِندِ ٱللَّهِ وَمَا هُوَ مِنْ عِندِ ٱللَّهِ وَيَقُولُونَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ٱلْكَذِبَ وَهُمْ يَعْلَمُونَ 78
مَا كَانَ لِبَشَرٍ أَن يُؤْتِيَهُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ وَٱلْحُكْمَ وَٱلنُّبُوَّةَ ثُمَّ يَقُولَ لِلنَّاسِ كُونُواْ عِبَادًا لِّى مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَلَـٰكِن كُونُواْ رَبَّـٰنِيِّــۧنَ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تُعَلِّمُونَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ وَبِمَا كُنتُمْ تَدْرُسُونَ 79
وَلَا يَأْمُرَكُمْ أَن تَتَّخِذُواْ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَ وَٱلنَّبِيِّــۧنَ أَرْبَابًاۗ أَيَأْمُرُكُم بِٱلْكُفْرِ بَعْدَ إِذْ أَنتُم مُّسْلِمُونَ 80
وَإِذْ أَخَذَ ٱللَّهُ مِيثَـٰقَ ٱلنَّبِيِّــۧنَ لَمَآ ءَاتَيْتُكُم مِّن كِتَـٰبٍ وَحِكْمَةٍ ثُمَّ جَآءَكُمْ رَسُولٌ مُّصَدِّقٌ لِّمَا مَعَكُمْ لَتُؤْمِنُنَّ بِهِۦ وَلَتَنصُرُنَّهُۥۚ قَالَ ءَأَقْرَرْتُمْ وَأَخَذْتُمْ عَلَىٰ ذَٲلِكُمْ إِصْرِىۖ قَالُوٓاْ أَقْرَرْنَاۚ قَالَ فَٱشْهَدُواْ وَأَنَا۟ مَعَكُم مِّنَ ٱلشَّـٰهِدِينَ 81
فَمَن تَوَلَّىٰ بَعْدَ ذَٲلِكَ فَأُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْفَـٰسِقُونَ 82
أَفَغَيْرَ دِينِ ٱللَّهِ يَبْغُونَ وَلَهُۥٓ أَسْلَمَ مَن فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٲتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ طَوْعًا وَكَرْهًا وَإِلَيْهِ يُرْجَعُونَ 83
وَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeedمِنْهُمْmin'humamong themلَفَرِيقًۭاlafarīqansurely (is) a group يَلْوُۥنَyalwūnathey distortأَلْسِنَتَهُمalsinatahumtheir tonguesبِٱلْكِتَـٰبِbil-kitābiin (reciting) the Bookلِتَحْسَبُوهُlitaḥsabūhuso that you may think itمِنَmina(is) fromٱلْكِتَـٰبِl-kitābithe Bookوَمَاwamāand notهُوَhuwaitمِنَmina(is) fromٱلْكِتَـٰبِl-kitābithe BookوَيَقُولُونَwayaqūlūnaAnd they sayهُوَhuwaItمِنْmin(is)عِندِʿindifromٱللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَمَاwamāBut notهُوَhuwaitمِنْmin(is)عِندِʿindifromٱللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَيَقُولُونَwayaqūlūnaAnd they sayعَلَىʿalāaboutٱللَّهِl-lahiAllahٱلْكَذِبَl-kadhibathe lieوَهُمْwahumwhile theyيَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnaknow
3:78
مَاmāNotكَانَkānaisلِبَشَرٍlibasharinfor a humanأَنanthatيُؤْتِيَهُyu'tiyahugives himٱللَّهُl-lahuAllahٱلْكِتَـٰبَl-kitābathe Bookوَٱلْحُكْمَwal-ḥuk'maand the wisdomوَٱلنُّبُوَّةَwal-nubuwataand the Prophethoodثُمَّthummathenيَقُولَyaqūlahe saysلِلنَّاسِlilnnāsito the peopleكُونُوا۟kūnūBeعِبَادًۭاʿibādanworshippersلِّىlīof meمِنminfromدُونِdūnibesidesٱللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَلَـٰكِنwalākinbut (would say)كُونُوا۟kūnūBeرَبَّـٰنِيِّـۧنَrabbāniyyīnaworshippers of the Lordبِمَاbimābecauseكُنتُمْkuntumyou have beenتُعَلِّمُونَtuʿallimūnateachingٱلْكِتَـٰبَl-kitābathe Bookوَبِمَاwabimāand becauseكُنتُمْkuntumyou have beenتَدْرُسُونَtadrusūnastudying (it)
3:79
وَلَاwalāAnd notيَأْمُرَكُمْyamurakumhe will order youأَنanthatتَتَّخِذُوا۟tattakhidhūyou takeٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَl-malāikatathe Angelsوَٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَwal-nabiyīnaand the Prophetsأَرْبَابًا ۗarbāban(as) lordsأَيَأْمُرُكُمayamurukumWould he order youبِٱلْكُفْرِbil-kuf'rito [the] disbeliefبَعْدَbaʿdaafterإِذْidh[when]أَنتُمantumyou (have become)مُّسْلِمُونَmus'limūnaMuslims
3:80
وَإِذْwa-idhAnd whenأَخَذَakhadhatookٱللَّهُl-lahuAllahمِيثَـٰقَmīthāqacovenantٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَl-nabiyīna(of) the ProphetsلَمَآlamāCertainly, whateverءَاتَيْتُكُمātaytukumI (have) given youمِّنminofكِتَـٰبٍۢkitābin(the) Bookوَحِكْمَةٍۢwaḥik'matinand wisdomثُمَّthummathenجَآءَكُمْjāakumcomes to youرَسُولٌۭrasūluna Messengerمُّصَدِّقٌۭmuṣaddiqunconfirmingلِّمَاlimāthat whichمَعَكُمْmaʿakum(is) with youلَتُؤْمِنُنَّlatu'minunnayou must believeبِهِۦbihiin himوَلَتَنصُرُنَّهُۥ ۚwalatanṣurunnahuand you must help himقَالَqālaHe saidءَأَقْرَرْتُمْa-aqrartumDo you affirmوَأَخَذْتُمْwa-akhadhtumand takeعَلَىٰʿalāonذَٰلِكُمْdhālikumthat (condition)إِصْرِى ۖiṣ'rīMy Covenantقَالُوٓا۟qālūThey saidأَقْرَرْنَا ۚaqrarnāWe affirmقَالَqālaHe saidفَٱشْهَدُوا۟fa-ish'hadūThen bear witnessوَأَنَا۠wa-anāand I (am)مَعَكُمmaʿakumwith youمِّنَminaamongٱلشَّـٰهِدِينَl-shāhidīnathe witnesses
3:81
فَمَنfamanThen whoeverتَوَلَّىٰtawallāturns awayبَعْدَbaʿdaafterذَٰلِكَdhālikathatفَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَfa-ulāikathen thoseهُمُhumutheyٱلْفَـٰسِقُونَl-fāsiqūna(are) the defiantly disobedient
3:82
أَفَغَيْرَafaghayraSo is (it) other thanدِينِdīni(the) religionٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahيَبْغُونَyabghūnathey seekوَلَهُۥٓwalahuWhile to Himأَسْلَمَaslama(have) submittedمَنmanwhateverفِىfī(is) inٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَٱلْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earthطَوْعًۭاṭawʿanwillinglyوَكَرْهًۭاwakarhanor unwillinglyوَإِلَيْهِwa-ilayhiand towards Himيُرْجَعُونَyur'jaʿūnathey will be returned
3:83
