وَمَآ أَصَـٰبَكُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْتَقَى ٱلْجَمْعَانِ فَبِإِذْنِ ٱللَّهِ وَلِيَعْلَمَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ 166
وَلِيَعْلَمَ ٱلَّذِينَ نَافَقُواْۚ وَقِيلَ لَهُمْ تَعَالَوْاْ قَـٰتِلُواْ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ أَوِ ٱدْفَعُواْۖ قَالُواْ لَوْ نَعْلَمُ قِتَالاً لَّٱتَّبَعْنَـٰكُمْۗ هُمْ لِلْكُفْرِ يَوْمَئِذٍ أَقْرَبُ مِنْهُمْ لِلْإِيمَـٰنِۚ يَقُولُونَ بِأَفْوَٲهِهِم مَّا لَيْسَ فِى قُلُوبِهِمْۗ وَٱللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يَكْتُمُونَ 167
ٱلَّذِينَ قَالُواْ لِإِخْوَٲنِهِمْ وَقَعَدُواْ لَوْ أَطَاعُونَا مَا قُتِلُواْۗ قُلْ فَٱدْرَءُواْ عَنْ أَنفُسِكُمُ ٱلْمَوْتَ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ 168
وَلَا تَحْسَبَنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ قُتِلُواْ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ أَمْوَٲتَۢاۚ بَلْ أَحْيَآءٌ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ يُرْزَقُونَ 169
فَرِحِينَ بِمَآ ءَاتَـٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ مِن فَضْلِهِۦ وَيَسْتَبْشِرُونَ بِٱلَّذِينَ لَمْ يَلْحَقُواْ بِهِم مِّنْ خَلْفِهِمْ أَلَّا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ 170
۞ يَسْتَبْشِرُونَ بِنِعْمَةٍ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَفَضْلٍ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُضِيعُ أَجْرَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ 171
ٱلَّذِينَ ٱسْتَجَابُواْ لِلَّهِ وَٱلرَّسُولِ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَآ أَصَابَهُمُ ٱلْقَرْحُۚ لِلَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُواْ مِنْهُمْ وَٱتَّقَوْاْ أَجْرٌ عَظِيمٌ 172
ٱلَّذِينَ قَالَ لَهُمُ ٱلنَّاسُ إِنَّ ٱلنَّاسَ قَدْ جَمَعُواْ لَكُمْ فَٱخْشَوْهُمْ فَزَادَهُمْ إِيمَـٰنًا وَقَالُواْ حَسْبُنَا ٱللَّهُ وَنِعْمَ ٱلْوَكِيلُ 173
وَمَآwamāAnd whatأَصَـٰبَكُمْaṣābakumstruck youيَوْمَyawma(on the) dayٱلْتَقَىl-taqā(when) metٱلْجَمْعَانِl-jamʿānithe two hostsفَبِإِذْنِfabi-idh'ni(was) by (the) permissionٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahوَلِيَعْلَمَwaliyaʿlamaand that He (might) make evidentٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīnathe believers
3:166
وَلِيَعْلَمَwaliyaʿlamaAnd that He (might) make evidentٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoنَافَقُوا۟ ۚnāfaqū(are) hypocritesوَقِيلَwaqīlaAnd it was saidلَهُمْlahumto themتَعَالَوْا۟taʿālawComeقَـٰتِلُوا۟qātilūfightفِىfīinسَبِيلِsabīli(the) wayٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahأَوِawiorٱدْفَعُوا۟ ۖid'faʿūdefendقَالُوا۟qālūThey saidلَوْlawIfنَعْلَمُnaʿlamuwe knewقِتَالًۭاqitālanfightingلَّٱتَّبَعْنَـٰكُمْ ۗla-ittabaʿnākumcertainly we (would have) followed youهُمْhumThey لِلْكُفْرِlil'kuf'rito disbeliefيَوْمَئِذٍyawma-idhinthat dayأَقْرَبُaqrabu(were) nearerمِنْهُمْmin'humthan [them]لِلْإِيمَـٰنِ ۚlil'īmānito the faithيَقُولُونَyaqūlūnasayingبِأَفْوَٰهِهِمbi-afwāhihimwith their mouthsمَّاmāwhatلَيْسَlaysawas notفِىfīinقُلُوبِهِمْ ۗqulūbihimtheir heartsوَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahأَعْلَمُaʿlamu(is) Most Knowingبِمَاbimāof whatيَكْتُمُونَyaktumūnathey conceal
3:167
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnaThose whoقَالُوا۟qālūsaidلِإِخْوَٰنِهِمْli-ikh'wānihimabout their brothersوَقَعَدُوا۟waqaʿadūwhile they satلَوْlawIfأَطَاعُونَاaṭāʿūnāthey (had) obeyed usمَاmānotقُتِلُوا۟ ۗqutilūthey would have been killedقُلْqulSayفَٱدْرَءُوا۟fa-id'raūThen avertعَنْʿanfromأَنفُسِكُمُanfusikumuyourselvesٱلْمَوْتَl-mawta[the] deathإِنinifكُنتُمْkuntumyou areصَـٰدِقِينَṣādiqīnatruthful
3:168
وَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتَحْسَبَنَّtaḥsabannathinkٱلَّذِينَalladhīna(of) those whoقُتِلُوا۟qutilūare killedفِىfīinسَبِيلِsabīli(the) wayٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahأَمْوَٰتًۢا ۚamwātan(as) deadبَلْbalNayأَحْيَآءٌaḥyāonThey are aliveعِندَʿindanearرَبِّهِمْrabbihimtheir Lordيُرْزَقُونَyur'zaqūnathey are given provision
3:169
فَرِحِينَfariḥīnaRejoicingبِمَآbimāin whatءَاتَىٰهُمُātāhumubestowed themٱللَّهُl-lahuAllahمِنminofفَضْلِهِۦfaḍlihiHis Bountyوَيَسْتَبْشِرُونَwayastabshirūnaand they receive good tidingsبِٱلَّذِينَbi-alladhīnaabout those whoلَمْlam(have) notيَلْحَقُوا۟yalḥaqūyet joinedبِهِمbihim[with] themمِّنْmin[from]خَلْفِهِمْkhalfihim(but are) left behind أَلَّاallāthat (there will be) noخَوْفٌkhawfunfearعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimon themوَلَاwalāand notهُمْhumtheyيَحْزَنُونَyaḥzanūnawill grieve
3:170
۞ يَسْتَبْشِرُونَyastabshirūnaThey receive good tidingsبِنِعْمَةٍۢbiniʿ'matinof Favorمِّنَminafromٱللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَفَضْلٍۢwafaḍlinand Bountyوَأَنَّwa-annaand thatٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahلَاlā(does) notيُضِيعُyuḍīʿulet go wasteأَجْرَajra(the) rewardٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīna(of) the believers
3:171
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnaThose whoٱسْتَجَابُوا۟is'tajābūrespondedلِلَّهِlillahito Allahوَٱلرَّسُولِwal-rasūliand the Messengerمِنۢminfromبَعْدِbaʿdiafterمَآmāwhatأَصَابَهُمُaṣābahumubefell them ٱلْقَرْحُ ۚl-qarḥuthe injury لِلَّذِينَlilladhīnafor those whoأَحْسَنُوا۟aḥsanūdid goodمِنْهُمْmin'humamong themوَٱتَّقَوْا۟wa-ittaqawand feared Allahأَجْرٌajrun(is) a reward عَظِيمٌʿaẓīmungreat
3:172
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnaThose whoقَالَqālasaidلَهُمُlahumuto themٱلنَّاسُl-nāsu[the people]إِنَّinnaIndeedٱلنَّاسَl-nāsathe peopleقَدْqad(have) certainlyجَمَعُوا۟jamaʿūgatheredلَكُمْlakumagainst youفَٱخْشَوْهُمْfa-ikh'shawhumso fear themفَزَادَهُمْfazādahumBut it increased themإِيمَـٰنًۭاīmānan(in) faithوَقَالُوا۟waqālūand they saidحَسْبُنَاḥasbunāSufficient for usٱللَّهُl-lahu(is) Allahوَنِعْمَwaniʿ'maand (He is the) bestٱلْوَكِيلُl-wakīlu[the] Disposer of affairs
3:173
