فَلَمَّا ذَهَبُواْ بِهِۦ وَأَجْمَعُوٓاْ أَن يَجْعَلُوهُ فِى غَيَـٰبَتِ ٱلْجُبِّۚ وَأَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَيْهِ لَتُنَبِّئَنَّهُم بِأَمْرِهِمْ هَـٰذَا وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ 15
وَجَآءُوٓ أَبَاهُمْ عِشَآءً يَبْكُونَ 16
قَالُواْ يَـٰٓأَبَانَآ إِنَّا ذَهَبْنَا نَسْتَبِقُ وَتَرَكْنَا يُوسُفَ عِندَ مَتَـٰعِنَا فَأَكَلَهُ ٱلذِّئْبُۖ وَمَآ أَنتَ بِمُؤْمِنٍ لَّنَا وَلَوْ كُنَّا صَـٰدِقِينَ 17
وَجَآءُو عَلَىٰ قَمِيصِهِۦ بِدَمٍ كَذِبٍۚ قَالَ بَلْ سَوَّلَتْ لَكُمْ أَنفُسُكُمْ أَمْرًاۖ فَصَبْرٌ جَمِيلٌۖ وَٱللَّهُ ٱلْمُسْتَعَانُ عَلَىٰ مَا تَصِفُونَ 18
وَجَآءَتْ سَيَّارَةٌ فَأَرْسَلُواْ وَارِدَهُمْ فَأَدْلَىٰ دَلْوَهُۥۖ قَالَ يَـٰبُشْرَىٰ هَـٰذَا غُلَـٰمٌۚ وَأَسَرُّوهُ بِضَـٰعَةًۚ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمُۢ بِمَا يَعْمَلُونَ 19
وَشَرَوْهُ بِثَمَنِۭ بَخْسٍ دَرَٲهِمَ مَعْدُودَةٍ وَكَانُواْ فِيهِ مِنَ ٱلزَّٲهِدِينَ 20
وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِى ٱشْتَرَٮٰهُ مِن مِّصْرَ لِٱمْرَأَتِهِۦٓ أَكْرِمِى مَثْوَٮٰهُ عَسَىٰٓ أَن يَنفَعَنَآ أَوْ نَتَّخِذَهُۥ وَلَدًاۚ وَكَذَٲلِكَ مَكَّنَّا لِيُوسُفَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلِنُعَلِّمَهُۥ مِن تَأْوِيلِ ٱلْأَحَادِيثِۚ وَٱللَّهُ غَالِبٌ عَلَىٰٓ أَمْرِهِۦ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ 21
وَلَمَّا بَلَغَ أَشُدَّهُۥٓ ءَاتَيْنَـٰهُ حُكْمًا وَعِلْمًاۚ وَكَذَٲلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ 22
فَلَمَّاfalammāSo whenذَهَبُوا۟dhahabūthey took himبِهِۦbihithey took himوَأَجْمَعُوٓا۟wa-ajmaʿūand agreedأَنanthatيَجْعَلُوهُyajʿalūhuthey put himفِىfīinغَيَـٰبَتِghayābati(the) bottomٱلْجُبِّ ۚl-jubi(of) the wellوَأَوْحَيْنَآwa-awḥaynāBut We inspiredإِلَيْهِilayhito himلَتُنَبِّئَنَّهُمlatunabbi-annahumSurely, you will inform themبِأَمْرِهِمْbi-amrihimabout this affairهَـٰذَاhādhāabout this affairوَهُمْwahumwhile theyلَاlā(do) notيَشْعُرُونَyashʿurūnaperceive
12:15
وَجَآءُوٓwajāūAnd they cameأَبَاهُمْabāhum(to) their fatherعِشَآءًۭʿishāanearly at nightيَبْكُونَyabkūnaweeping
12:16
قَالُوا۟qālūThey saidيَـٰٓأَبَانَآyāabānāO our fatherإِنَّاinnāIndeed, weذَهَبْنَاdhahabnā[we] wentنَسْتَبِقُnastabiquracing each otherوَتَرَكْنَاwataraknāand we leftيُوسُفَyūsufaYusufعِندَʿindawithمَتَـٰعِنَاmatāʿināour possessionsفَأَكَلَهُfa-akalahuand ate himٱلذِّئْبُ ۖl-dhi'buthe wolfوَمَآwamāBut notأَنتَantayouبِمُؤْمِنٍۢbimu'minin(will) believeلَّنَاlanāusوَلَوْwalaweven ifكُنَّاkunnāwe areصَـٰدِقِينَṣādiqīnatruthful
12:17
وَجَآءُوwajāūAnd they broughtعَلَىٰʿalāuponقَمِيصِهِۦqamīṣihihis shirtبِدَمٍۢbidaminwith false bloodكَذِبٍۢ ۚkadhibinwith false bloodقَالَqālaHe saidبَلْbalNayسَوَّلَتْsawwalathas enticed youلَكُمْlakumhas enticed youأَنفُسُكُمْanfusukumyour soulsأَمْرًۭا ۖamran(to) a matterفَصَبْرٌۭfaṣabrunso patienceجَمِيلٌۭ ۖjamīlun(is) beautifulوَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahٱلْمُسْتَعَانُl-mus'taʿānu(is) the One sought for helpعَلَىٰʿalāagainstمَاmāwhatتَصِفُونَtaṣifūnayou describe
12:18
وَجَآءَتْwajāatAnd there cameسَيَّارَةٌۭsayyāratuna caravanفَأَرْسَلُوا۟fa-arsalūand they sentوَارِدَهُمْwāridahumtheir water drawerفَأَدْلَىٰfa-adlāthen he let downدَلْوَهُۥ ۖdalwahuhis bucketقَالَqālaHe saidيَـٰبُشْرَىٰyābush'rāO good newsهَـٰذَاhādhāThisغُلَـٰمٌۭ ۚghulāmun(is) a boyوَأَسَرُّوهُwa-asarrūhuAnd they hid himبِضَـٰعَةًۭ ۚbiḍāʿatan(as) a merchandiseوَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahعَلِيمٌۢʿalīmun(is) All-Knowerبِمَاbimāof whatيَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūnathey do
12:19
وَشَرَوْهُwasharawhuAnd they sold himبِثَمَنٍۭbithamaninfor a priceبَخْسٍۢbakhsinvery lowدَرَٰهِمَdarāhimadirhamsمَعْدُودَةٍۢmaʿdūdatinfewوَكَانُوا۟wakānūand they wereفِيهِfīhiabout himمِنَminaofٱلزَّٰهِدِينَl-zāhidīnathose keen to give up
12:20
وَقَالَwaqālaAnd saidٱلَّذِىalladhīthe one whoٱشْتَرَىٰهُish'tarāhubought himمِنminofمِّصْرَmiṣ'raEgyptلِٱمْرَأَتِهِۦٓli-im'ra-atihito his wifeأَكْرِمِىakrimīMake comfortableمَثْوَىٰهُmathwāhuhis stayعَسَىٰٓʿasāPerhapsأَنanthatيَنفَعَنَآyanfaʿanā(he) will benefit usأَوْaworنَتَّخِذَهُۥnattakhidhahuwe will take himوَلَدًۭا ۚwaladan(as) a sonوَكَذَٰلِكَwakadhālikaAnd thusمَكَّنَّاmakkannāWe establishedلِيُوسُفَliyūsufaYusufفِىfīinٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe landوَلِنُعَلِّمَهُۥwalinuʿallimahuthat We might teach himمِنmin(the) interpretation ofتَأْوِيلِtawīli(the) interpretation ofٱلْأَحَادِيثِ ۚl-aḥādīthithe eventsوَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahغَالِبٌghālibun(is) PredominantعَلَىٰٓʿalāoverأَمْرِهِۦamrihiHis affairsوَلَـٰكِنَّwalākinnabutأَكْثَرَaktharamostٱلنَّاسِl-nāsi(of) the peopleلَاlā(do) notيَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnaknow
12:21
وَلَمَّاwalammāAnd whenبَلَغَbalaghahe reachedأَشُدَّهُۥٓashuddahuhis maturityءَاتَيْنَـٰهُātaynāhuWe gave himحُكْمًۭاḥuk'manwisdomوَعِلْمًۭا ۚwaʿil'manand knowledgeوَكَذَٰلِكَwakadhālikaAnd thusنَجْزِىnajzīWe rewardٱلْمُحْسِنِينَl-muḥ'sinīnathe good-doers
12:22
