لِيَكْفُرُواْ بِمَآ ءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمْۚ فَتَمَتَّعُواْۖ فَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ 55
وَيَجْعَلُونَ لِمَا لَا يَعْلَمُونَ نَصِيبًا مِّمَّا رَزَقْنَـٰهُمْۗ تَٱللَّهِ لَتُسْــَٔلُنَّ عَمَّا كُنتُمْ تَفْتَرُونَ 56
وَيَجْعَلُونَ لِلَّهِ ٱلْبَنَـٰتِ سُبْحَـٰنَهُۥۙ وَلَهُم مَّا يَشْتَهُونَ 57
وَإِذَا بُشِّرَ أَحَدُهُم بِٱلْأُنثَىٰ ظَلَّ وَجْهُهُۥ مُسْوَدًّا وَهُوَ كَظِيمٌ 58
يَتَوَٲرَىٰ مِنَ ٱلْقَوْمِ مِن سُوٓءِ مَا بُشِّرَ بِهِۦٓۚ أَيُمْسِكُهُۥ عَلَىٰ هُونٍ أَمْ يَدُسُّهُۥ فِى ٱلتُّرَابِۗ أَلَا سَآءَ مَا يَحْكُمُونَ 59
لِلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱلْأَخِرَةِ مَثَلُ ٱلسَّوْءِۖ وَلِلَّهِ ٱلْمَثَلُ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰۚ وَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ 60
وَلَوْ يُؤَاخِذُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلنَّاسَ بِظُلْمِهِم مَّا تَرَكَ عَلَيْهَا مِن دَآبَّةٍ وَلَـٰكِن يُؤَخِّرُهُمْ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّىۖ فَإِذَا جَآءَ أَجَلُهُمْ لَا يَسْتَــْٔخِرُونَ سَاعَةًۖ وَلَا يَسْتَقْدِمُونَ 61
وَيَجْعَلُونَ لِلَّهِ مَا يَكْرَهُونَ وَتَصِفُ أَلْسِنَتُهُمُ ٱلْكَذِبَ أَنَّ لَهُمُ ٱلْحُسْنَىٰۖ لَا جَرَمَ أَنَّ لَهُمُ ٱلنَّارَ وَأَنَّهُم مُّفْرَطُونَ 62
تَٱللَّهِ لَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَىٰٓ أُمَمٍ مِّن قَبْلِكَ فَزَيَّنَ لَهُمُ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ أَعْمَـٰلَهُمْ فَهُوَ وَلِيُّهُمُ ٱلْيَوْمَ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ 63
وَمَآ أَنزَلْنَا عَلَيْكَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ إِلَّا لِتُبَيِّنَ لَهُمُ ٱلَّذِى ٱخْتَلَفُواْ فِيهِۙ وَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةً لِّقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ 64
لِيَكْفُرُوا۟liyakfurūSo as to denyبِمَآbimāthat whichءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمْ ۚātaynāhumWe have given themفَتَمَتَّعُوا۟ ۖfatamattaʿūThen enjoy yourselvesفَسَوْفَfasawfasoonتَعْلَمُونَtaʿlamūnayou will know
16:55
وَيَجْعَلُونَwayajʿalūnaAnd they assignلِمَاlimāto whatلَاlānotيَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnathey know نَصِيبًۭاnaṣībana portionمِّمَّاmimmāof whatرَزَقْنَـٰهُمْ ۗrazaqnāhumWe have provided themتَٱللَّهِtal-lahiBy Allahلَتُسْـَٔلُنَّlatus'alunnasurely you will be askedعَمَّاʿammāabout whatكُنتُمْkuntumyou used (to)تَفْتَرُونَtaftarūnainvent
16:56
وَيَجْعَلُونَwayajʿalūnaAnd they assignلِلَّهِlillahito Allahٱلْبَنَـٰتِl-banātidaughtersسُبْحَـٰنَهُۥ ۙsub'ḥānahuGlory be to HimوَلَهُمwalahumAnd for themمَّاmā(is) whatيَشْتَهُونَyashtahūnathey desire
16:57
وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenبُشِّرَbushirais given good newsأَحَدُهُمaḥaduhum(to) one of themبِٱلْأُنثَىٰbil-unthāof a femaleظَلَّẓallaturnsوَجْهُهُۥwajhuhuhis faceمُسْوَدًّۭاmus'waddandarkوَهُوَwahuwaand heكَظِيمٌۭkaẓīmunsuppresses grief
16:58
يَتَوَٰرَىٰyatawārāHe hides himselfمِنَminafromٱلْقَوْمِl-qawmithe peopleمِنmin(because) ofسُوٓءِsūithe evilمَاmāof whatبُشِّرَbushirahe has been given good newsبِهِۦٓ ۚbihiaboutأَيُمْسِكُهُۥayum'sikuhuShould he keep itعَلَىٰʿalāinهُونٍhūninhumiliationأَمْamorيَدُسُّهُۥyadussuhubury itفِىfīinٱلتُّرَابِ ۗl-turābithe dustأَلَاalāUnquestionablyسَآءَsāaevilمَاmā(is) whatيَحْكُمُونَyaḥkumūnathey decide
16:59
لِلَّذِينَlilladhīnaFor those whoلَاlā(do) notيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnabelieveبِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِbil-ākhiratiin the Hereafterمَثَلُmathalu(is) a similitudeٱلسَّوْءِ ۖl-sawi(of) the evilوَلِلَّهِwalillahiand for Allahٱلْمَثَلُl-mathalu(is) the similitudeٱلْأَعْلَىٰ ۚl-aʿlāthe HighestوَهُوَwahuwaAnd Heٱلْعَزِيزُl-ʿazīzu(is) the All-Mightyٱلْحَكِيمُl-ḥakīmuAll-Wise
16:60
وَلَوْwalawAnd ifيُؤَاخِذُyuākhidhuAllah were to seizeٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah were to seizeٱلنَّاسَl-nāsathe mankindبِظُلْمِهِمbiẓul'mihimfor their wrongdoingمَّاmānotتَرَكَtarakaHe (would) have leftعَلَيْهَاʿalayhāupon itمِنminanyدَآبَّةٍۢdābbatinmoving creatureوَلَـٰكِنwalākinbutيُؤَخِّرُهُمْyu-akhiruhumHe defers themإِلَىٰٓilāforأَجَلٍۢajalina termمُّسَمًّۭى ۖmusammanappointedفَإِذَاfa-idhāThen whenجَآءَjāacomesأَجَلُهُمْajaluhumtheir termsلَاlānotيَسْتَـْٔخِرُونَyastakhirūnathey (will) remain behindسَاعَةًۭ ۖsāʿatanan hourوَلَاwalāand notيَسْتَقْدِمُونَyastaqdimūnathey can advance (it)
16:61
وَيَجْعَلُونَwayajʿalūnaAnd they assignلِلَّهِlillahito Allahمَاmāwhatيَكْرَهُونَyakrahūnathey dislikeوَتَصِفُwataṣifuand assertأَلْسِنَتُهُمُalsinatuhumutheir tonguesٱلْكَذِبَl-kadhibathe lieأَنَّannathatلَهُمُlahumufor themٱلْحُسْنَىٰ ۖl-ḥus'nā(is) the bestلَاlāNoجَرَمَjaramadoubtأَنَّannathatلَهُمُlahumufor themٱلنَّارَl-nāra(is) the Fireوَأَنَّهُمwa-annahumand that theyمُّفْرَطُونَmuf'raṭūna(will) be abandoned
16:62
تَٱللَّهِtal-lahiBy AllahلَقَدْlaqadcertainlyأَرْسَلْنَآarsalnāWe have sentإِلَىٰٓilātoأُمَمٍۢumaminnationsمِّنminbefore youقَبْلِكَqablikabefore youفَزَيَّنَfazayyanabut made fair-seemingلَهُمُlahumuto themٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُl-shayṭānuthe Shaitaanأَعْمَـٰلَهُمْaʿmālahumtheir deedsفَهُوَfahuwaSo heوَلِيُّهُمُwaliyyuhumu(is) their allyٱلْيَوْمَl-yawmatodayوَلَهُمْwalahumand for themعَذَابٌʿadhābun(is) a punishmentأَلِيمٌۭalīmunpainful
16:63
وَمَآwamāAnd notأَنزَلْنَاanzalnāWe revealedعَلَيْكَʿalaykato youٱلْكِتَـٰبَl-kitābathe Bookإِلَّاillāexceptلِتُبَيِّنَlitubayyinathat you make clearلَهُمُlahumuto themٱلَّذِىalladhīthat whichٱخْتَلَفُوا۟ikh'talafūthey differedفِيهِ ۙfīhiin itوَهُدًۭىwahudanand (as) a guidanceوَرَحْمَةًۭwaraḥmatanand mercyلِّقَوْمٍۢliqawminfor a peopleيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnawho believe
16:64
