ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ وَصَدُّواْ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ زِدْنَـٰهُمْ عَذَابًا فَوْقَ ٱلْعَذَابِ بِمَا كَانُواْ يُفْسِدُونَ 88
وَيَوْمَ نَبْعَثُ فِى كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ شَهِيدًا عَلَيْهِم مِّنْ أَنفُسِهِمْۖ وَجِئْنَا بِكَ شَهِيدًا عَلَىٰ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِۚ وَنَزَّلْنَا عَلَيْكَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ تِبْيَـٰنًا لِّكُلِّ شَىْءٍ وَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةً وَبُشْرَىٰ لِلْمُسْلِمِينَ 89
۞ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَأْمُرُ بِٱلْعَدْلِ وَٱلْإِحْسَـٰنِ وَإِيتَآىِٕ ذِى ٱلْقُرْبَىٰ وَيَنْهَىٰ عَنِ ٱلْفَحْشَآءِ وَٱلْمُنكَرِ وَٱلْبَغْىِۚ يَعِظُكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَذَكَّرُونَ 90
وَأَوْفُواْ بِعَهْدِ ٱللَّهِ إِذَا عَـٰهَدتُّمْ وَلَا تَنقُضُواْ ٱلْأَيْمَـٰنَ بَعْدَ تَوْكِيدِهَا وَقَدْ جَعَلْتُمُ ٱللَّهَ عَلَيْكُمْ كَفِيلاًۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَعْلَمُ مَا تَفْعَلُونَ 91
وَلَا تَكُونُواْ كَٱلَّتِى نَقَضَتْ غَزْلَهَا مِنۢ بَعْدِ قُوَّةٍ أَنكَـٰثًا تَتَّخِذُونَ أَيْمَـٰنَكُمْ دَخَلاَۢ بَيْنَكُمْ أَن تَكُونَ أُمَّةٌ هِىَ أَرْبَىٰ مِنْ أُمَّةٍۚ إِنَّمَا يَبْلُوكُمُ ٱللَّهُ بِهِۦۚ وَلَيُبَيِّنَنَّ لَكُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ مَا كُنتُمْ فِيهِ تَخْتَلِفُونَ 92
وَلَوْ شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ لَجَعَلَكُمْ أُمَّةً وَٲحِدَةً وَلَـٰكِن يُضِلُّ مَن يَشَآءُ وَيَهْدِى مَن يَشَآءُۚ وَلَتُسْــَٔلُنَّ عَمَّا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ 93
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnaAnd those whoكَفَرُوا۟kafarūdisbelievedوَصَدُّوا۟waṣaddūand hinderedعَنʿanfromسَبِيلِsabīli(the) wayٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahزِدْنَـٰهُمْzid'nāhumWe will increase themعَذَابًۭاʿadhāban(in) punishmentفَوْقَfawqaoverٱلْعَذَابِl-ʿadhābipunishmentبِمَاbimābecauseكَانُوا۟kānūthey used (to)يُفْسِدُونَyuf'sidūnaspread corruption
16:88
وَيَوْمَwayawmaAnd the DayنَبْعَثُnabʿathuWe will resurrectفِىfīamongكُلِّkullieveryأُمَّةٍۢummatinnationشَهِيدًاshahīdana witnessعَلَيْهِمʿalayhimover themمِّنْminfromأَنفُسِهِمْ ۖanfusihimthemselvesوَجِئْنَاwaji'nāAnd We (will) bringبِكَbikayouشَهِيدًاshahīdan(as) a witnessعَلَىٰʿalāoverهَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ ۚhāulāitheseوَنَزَّلْنَاwanazzalnāAnd We sent downعَلَيْكَʿalaykato youٱلْكِتَـٰبَl-kitābathe Bookتِبْيَـٰنًۭاtib'yānan(as) a clarificationلِّكُلِّlikulliof everyشَىْءٍۢshayinthingوَهُدًۭىwahudanand a guidanceوَرَحْمَةًۭwaraḥmatanand mercyوَبُشْرَىٰwabush'rāand glad tidingsلِلْمُسْلِمِينَlil'mus'limīnafor the Muslims
16:89
۞ إِنَّinnaIndeedٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahيَأْمُرُyamurucommandsبِٱلْعَدْلِbil-ʿadlijusticeوَٱلْإِحْسَـٰنِwal-iḥ'sāniand the goodوَإِيتَآئِwaītāiand givingذِىdhī(to) relativesٱلْقُرْبَىٰl-qur'bā(to) relativesوَيَنْهَىٰwayanhāand forbidsعَنِʿani[from]ٱلْفَحْشَآءِl-faḥshāithe immoralityوَٱلْمُنكَرِwal-munkariand the badوَٱلْبَغْىِ ۚwal-baghyiand the oppressionيَعِظُكُمْyaʿiẓukumHe admonishes youلَعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumso that you mayتَذَكَّرُونَtadhakkarūnatake heed
16:90
وَأَوْفُوا۟wa-awfūAnd fulfilبِعَهْدِbiʿahdithe covenantٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahإِذَاidhāwhenعَـٰهَدتُّمْʿāhadttumyou have taken a covenantوَلَاwalāand (do) notتَنقُضُوا۟tanquḍūbreakٱلْأَيْمَـٰنَl-aymānaoathsبَعْدَbaʿdaafterتَوْكِيدِهَاtawkīdihātheir confirmationوَقَدْwaqadwhile verilyجَعَلْتُمُjaʿaltumuyou have madeٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumover youكَفِيلًا ۚkafīlana suretyإِنَّinnaIndeedٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahيَعْلَمُyaʿlamuknowsمَاmāwhatتَفْعَلُونَtafʿalūnayou do
16:91
وَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتَكُونُوا۟takūnūbeكَٱلَّتِىka-allatīlike her whoنَقَضَتْnaqaḍatuntwistsغَزْلَهَاghazlahāher spun yarnمِنۢminafterبَعْدِbaʿdiafterقُوَّةٍquwwatinstrengthأَنكَـٰثًۭاankāthan(into) untwisted strandsتَتَّخِذُونَtattakhidhūnayou takeأَيْمَـٰنَكُمْaymānakumyour oathsدَخَلًۢاdakhalan(as) a deceptionبَيْنَكُمْbaynakumbetween youأَنanbecauseتَكُونَtakūnaisأُمَّةٌummatuna communityهِىَhiya[it]أَرْبَىٰarbāmore numerousمِنْminthanأُمَّةٍ ۚummatin(another) communityإِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyيَبْلُوكُمُyablūkumuAllah tests youٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah tests youبِهِۦ ۚbihiby itوَلَيُبَيِّنَنَّwalayubayyinannaAnd He will make clearلَكُمْlakumto youيَوْمَyawma(on) the Dayٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrectionمَاmāwhatكُنتُمْkuntumyou used (to)فِيهِfīhiin itتَخْتَلِفُونَtakhtalifūnadiffer
16:92
وَلَوْwalawAnd ifشَآءَshāaAllah (had) willedٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah (had) willedلَجَعَلَكُمْlajaʿalakumsurely He (could) have made youأُمَّةًۭummatana nationوَٰحِدَةًۭwāḥidatanoneوَلَـٰكِنwalākinbutيُضِلُّyuḍilluHe lets go astrayمَنmanwhomيَشَآءُyashāuHe willsوَيَهْدِىwayahdīand guidesمَنmanwhomيَشَآءُ ۚyashāuHe willsوَلَتُسْـَٔلُنَّwalatus'alunnaAnd surely you will be questionedعَمَّاʿammāabout whatكُنتُمْkuntumyou used (to)تَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnado
16:93
