وَجَحَدُواْ بِهَا وَٱسْتَيْقَنَتْهَآ أَنفُسُهُمْ ظُلْمًا وَعُلُوًّاۚ فَٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلْمُفْسِدِينَ 14
وَلَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَا دَاوُۥدَ وَسُلَيْمَـٰنَ عِلْمًاۖ وَقَالَا ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِى فَضَّلَنَا عَلَىٰ كَثِيرٍ مِّنْ عِبَادِهِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ 15
وَوَرِثَ سُلَيْمَـٰنُ دَاوُۥدَۖ وَقَالَ يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ عُلِّمْنَا مَنطِقَ ٱلطَّيْرِ وَأُوتِينَا مِن كُلِّ شَىْءٍۖ إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَهُوَ ٱلْفَضْلُ ٱلْمُبِينُ 16
وَحُشِرَ لِسُلَيْمَـٰنَ جُنُودُهُۥ مِنَ ٱلْجِنِّ وَٱلْإِنسِ وَٱلطَّيْرِ فَهُمْ يُوزَعُونَ 17
حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَآ أَتَوْاْ عَلَىٰ وَادِ ٱلنَّمْلِ قَالَتْ نَمْلَةٌ يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّمْلُ ٱدْخُلُواْ مَسَـٰكِنَكُمْ لَا يَحْطِمَنَّكُمْ سُلَيْمَـٰنُ وَجُنُودُهُۥ وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ 18
فَتَبَسَّمَ ضَاحِكًا مِّن قَوْلِهَا وَقَالَ رَبِّ أَوْزِعْنِىٓ أَنْ أَشْكُرَ نِعْمَتَكَ ٱلَّتِىٓ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَىَّ وَعَلَىٰ وَٲلِدَىَّ وَأَنْ أَعْمَلَ صَـٰلِحًا تَرْضَـٰهُ وَأَدْخِلْنِى بِرَحْمَتِكَ فِى عِبَادِكَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ 19
وَتَفَقَّدَ ٱلطَّيْرَ فَقَالَ مَا لِىَ لَآ أَرَى ٱلْهُدْهُدَ أَمْ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْغَآئِبِينَ 20
لَأُعَذِّبَنَّهُۥ عَذَابًا شَدِيدًا أَوْ لَأَاْذْبَحَنَّهُۥٓ أَوْ لَيَأْتِيَنِّى بِسُلْطَـٰنٍ مُّبِينٍ 21
فَمَكَثَ غَيْرَ بَعِيدٍ فَقَالَ أَحَطتُ بِمَا لَمْ تُحِطْ بِهِۦ وَجِئْتُكَ مِن سَبَإِۭ بِنَبَإٍ يَقِينٍ 22
وَجَحَدُوا۟wajaḥadūAnd they rejectedبِهَاbihāthemوَٱسْتَيْقَنَتْهَآwa-is'tayqanathāthough were convinced with them (signs)أَنفُسُهُمْanfusuhumthemselvesظُلْمًۭاẓul'man(out of) injusticeوَعُلُوًّۭا ۚwaʿuluwwanand haughtinessفَٱنظُرْfa-unẓurSo seeكَيْفَkayfahowكَانَkānawasعَـٰقِبَةُʿāqibatu(the) endٱلْمُفْسِدِينَl-muf'sidīna(of) the corrupters
27:14
وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd verilyءَاتَيْنَاātaynāWe gaveدَاوُۥدَdāwūdaDawoodوَسُلَيْمَـٰنَwasulaymānaand Sulaimanعِلْمًۭا ۖʿil'manknowledgeوَقَالَاwaqālāand they saidٱلْحَمْدُl-ḥamduPraise beلِلَّهِlillahito Allahٱلَّذِىalladhīthe One Whoفَضَّلَنَاfaḍḍalanāhas favored usعَلَىٰʿalāoverكَثِيرٍۢkathīrinmanyمِّنْminofعِبَادِهِʿibādihiHis servantsٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīnathe believers
27:15
وَوَرِثَwawarithaAnd inheritedسُلَيْمَـٰنُsulaymānuSulaimanدَاوُۥدَ ۖdāwūdaDawoodوَقَالَwaqālaAnd he saidيَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāOٱلنَّاسُl-nāsupeopleعُلِّمْنَاʿullim'nāWe have been taughtمَنطِقَmanṭiqa(the) languageٱلطَّيْرِl-ṭayri(of) the birdsوَأُوتِينَاwaūtīnāand we have been givenمِنminfromكُلِّkullieveryشَىْءٍ ۖshayinthingإِنَّinnaIndeedهَـٰذَاhādhāthisلَهُوَlahuwasurely, itٱلْفَضْلُl-faḍlu(is) the favorٱلْمُبِينُl-mubīnuevident
27:16
وَحُشِرَwaḥushiraAnd were gatheredلِسُلَيْمَـٰنَlisulaymānafor Sulaimanجُنُودُهُۥjunūduhuhis hostsمِنَminaofٱلْجِنِّl-jinijinnوَٱلْإِنسِwal-insiand the menوَٱلطَّيْرِwal-ṭayriand the birdsفَهُمْfahumand theyيُوزَعُونَyūzaʿūna(were) set in rows
27:17
حَتَّىٰٓḥattāUntilإِذَآidhāwhenأَتَوْا۟atawthey cameعَلَىٰʿalātoوَادِwādi(the) valleyٱلنَّمْلِl-namli(of) the antsقَالَتْqālatsaidنَمْلَةٌۭnamlatunan antيَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāOٱلنَّمْلُl-namluantsٱدْخُلُوا۟ud'khulūEnterمَسَـٰكِنَكُمْmasākinakumyour dwellingsلَاlālest not crush youيَحْطِمَنَّكُمْyaḥṭimannakumlest not crush youسُلَيْمَـٰنُsulaymānuSulaimanوَجُنُودُهُۥwajunūduhuand his hostsوَهُمْwahumwhile theyلَاlā(do) not perceiveيَشْعُرُونَyashʿurūna(do) not perceive
27:18
فَتَبَسَّمَfatabassamaSo he smiled ضَاحِكًۭاḍāḥikanlaughingمِّنminatقَوْلِهَاqawlihāher speechوَقَالَwaqālaand saidرَبِّrabbiMy Lordأَوْزِعْنِىٓawziʿ'nīGrant me (the) powerأَنْanthatأَشْكُرَashkuraI may thank Youنِعْمَتَكَniʿ'mataka(for) Your FavorٱلَّتِىٓallatīwhichأَنْعَمْتَanʿamtaYou have bestowedعَلَىَّʿalayyaon meوَعَلَىٰwaʿalāand onوَٰلِدَىَّwālidayyamy parentsوَأَنْwa-anand thatأَعْمَلَaʿmalaI may doصَـٰلِحًۭاṣāliḥanrighteous (deeds)تَرْضَىٰهُtarḍāhuthat will please Youوَأَدْخِلْنِىwa-adkhil'nīAnd admit meبِرَحْمَتِكَbiraḥmatikaby Your MercyفِىfīamongعِبَادِكَʿibādikaYour slavesٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَl-ṣāliḥīnarighteous
27:19
وَتَفَقَّدَwatafaqqadaAnd he inspectedٱلطَّيْرَl-ṭayrathe birdsفَقَالَfaqālaand saidمَاmāWhyلِىَliyaWhyلَآlānotأَرَىarāI seeٱلْهُدْهُدَl-hud'hudathe hoopoeأَمْamorكَانَkānais heمِنَminafromٱلْغَآئِبِينَl-ghāibīnathe absent
27:20
لَأُعَذِّبَنَّهُۥla-uʿadhibannahuI will surely punish himعَذَابًۭاʿadhāban(with) a punishmentشَدِيدًاshadīdansevereأَوْaworلَأَا۟ذْبَحَنَّهُۥٓlaādh'baḥannahuI will surely slaughter himأَوْawunlessلَيَأْتِيَنِّىlayatiyannīhe brings meبِسُلْطَـٰنٍۢbisul'ṭānina reasonمُّبِينٍۢmubīninclear
27:21
فَمَكَثَfamakathaSo he stayedغَيْرَghayranotبَعِيدٍۢbaʿīdinlongفَقَالَfaqālaand he saidأَحَطتُaḥaṭtuI have encompassedبِمَاbimāthat whichلَمْlamnotتُحِطْtuḥiṭyou have encompassedبِهِۦbihiitوَجِئْتُكَwaji'tukaand I have come to youمِنminfromسَبَإٍۭsaba-inSabaبِنَبَإٍۢbinaba-inwith newsيَقِينٍyaqīnincertain
27:22
